Delisa's Black Bean Burgers
Another Black Bean Burger recipe that promises to be a keeper!
- 1 (15 oz.) can black beans
- 1/2 cp quick cooking rolled oats (NOT INSTANT)
- 1/2 cp whole wheat bread crumbs
- 4 T each of finely chopped onions, carrots and mushrooms
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsps nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 T vegetarian worcestshire sauce
- 1 T low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 T salsa, optional
Pulse the beans in food processor till chunky. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix all till well processed. Shape into good sized burger patties.
You can either freeze the uncooked burgers for later use or cook immediately. Brown the patties in pan sprayed with a wee bit of oil about 4 minutes per side till nicely browned and heated through. Or, if you're really ambitious, fire up the grill!
Serve on a heart healthy bun with sliced tomatoes, onion and greens of your choice. With a side of sweet potato wedges or some corn on the cob, you have a great afternoon or dinner treat.
These patties are hearty, have a great flavor, and are filled with nutrition. The Angus has gone to pasture!
